The statue of St Aidan, the Christian saint who founded a monastery on the island of Lindisfarne in 634. from this beautiful, isolated place, Christianity was spread throughout England. The Tudor fortress on Beblowe Crag visible in the background is owned by The National Trust and is open to visitors.
